Matt is a founding director of Picture More along with Oliver Morris.

Matt fell into recruitment in the year 2000 straight after four years at Brighton University, where he had trained to become a PE Teacher. He finds there are many similarities between teaching sports to unruly teenagers and guiding candidates and clients through the recruitment process, though fortunately access to weapons such as hockey sticks, cricket bats and javelins are limited within recruitment. Working with law firms from the very start of his recruitment career, Matt has built strong knowledge of the legal technology marketplace, though is fascinated to learn something new virtually every day. Matt has been blessed/cursed with a keen memory for names and events from the past 20 years and is often utilised as a Google substitute within the office.

To Matt, the key to a successful recruitment campaign is gaining a true understanding of what a client wants/needs to achieve through the hire, before agreeing how those needs can be addressed and shaping the role so it’s an attractive proposition for suitable candidates. Effective candidate attraction and screening cannot happen unless there is a viable proposition for both client and candidate.

When not working directly with clients, running the business or helping the team to hone their recruitment skills, Matt can usually be found walking on Brighton beach with our office dog (and Head of Staff Welfare) Wilf. A keen cook with a repertoire ranging from slow-cooked beef stew & dumplings to Sri Lankan curries and a mean veggie lasagne, Matt follows his local football club Lewes FC, with occasional trips to the Amex Stadium to watch Brighton & Hove Albion too.
