CSR

Our key responsibility is to provide our clients with talented individuals whilst maintaining an open

and honest relationship with our candidates. This however is not the only responsibility of picture more.

As an employer we need to look after our employees. As a business we have responsibilities towards our suppliers and local communities. In the way we run our enterprise we have a responsibility to manage our impact on the environment.

Addressing these responsibilities is paramount to picture more. Corporate Social Responsibility is therefore integral to the vision of Picture More.

Responsible Employer:

As a service industry our people are our product, therefore looking after our employees is critical. To ensure employees are well supported a fresh, open and honest approach and a meritocratic ethos is apparent at picture more. This has been affirmed by achieving Bronze in our Investors in People accreditation.

We also support an ‘Active Office’ ethos. Encouraging personal fitness and well being for staff. Subsidised gym membership, free organic fruit, charity walks and 3pm ‘planks’ are just some incentives to help keep the office fit and healthy.

Community Investment:

Helping the communities in which we live is part of picture more’s investment strategy. This includes making charitable corporate contributions to local charities such as the Martha Trust and the Chestnut Tree House.

Each year the company democratically elects a charity for the year. Planned events, including cake sales; fancy dress Fridays and the Picture More Quiz night help to reach the annual target. Past charities include: Alzheimer’s Society, Leukaemia & Lymphoma charity and Mind all aiming to collect £1000. Our recruitment knowledge has also been used to source staff for charities on a pro bono basis including See the Difference.

The Environment:

picture more is proud to be green! In managing our impact on the environment we are focusing on going green. We are concerned with minimizing office consumables and are dedicated to reducing emissions and becoming more energy efficient.

Office equipment and facilities

  • We encourage staff to switch off monitors at breaks away from our desks and shut down computers at the end of each day.
  • At the end of each day we switch off all other electrical appliances, e.g. printer, shredder, toaster and kettle.
  • We set the dishwater to the Economy cycle and only put on when it’s full.
  • Our lighting is provided with motion sensors so energy can be saved by controlling when and how the lights are used.

Office stationery and recycling.

  • We recycle! As much office consumables as possible, through Brighton Paper Round. We save on average 6 trees a year with our paper recycling!!
  • All our company stationery, including envelopes are made with recycled paper.
  • We are aiming for a completely paperless office, but when documents have to be printed they are done so on recycled paper.
  • Office supplies, e.g. stationery, are ordered in bulk to cut down deliveries and therefore reduce carbon missions.

Transport

Staff members who live in the Brighton and Hove area are encouraged to walk to work or use public transport and those who live further out are encouraged to take the train.

We also have a cycle-to-work scheme provided by Cyclescheme.

Diversity & Equal Opportunities Policy

Having a diverse and inclusive organisation is a strategic priority for Picture More. Not only is it unlawful to discriminate against people because they belong to a particular group but it is a limiting factor for the growth of our organisation. In fact we actively encourage diversity. How we achieve this can be seen in our Diversity Policy below:

Diversity through recruitment:

  • Monitor our recruitment process by gaining data on gender, ethnic origin, disability and age. This data is gained by the completion of the attached ‘Equality & Diversity Monitoring’ form and scrutinised on a regular basis.
  • Advertising vacancies in a variety of media that widens interest from under-represented groups. Also being mindful of images/ words that appeal to a wider audience.
  • Ensure that any tests are valid, reliable and culture-free and are tested on a diverse norm group.

Diversity in the workplace:

  • Offering training and development methods to all staff to ensure the impact of stereotypes is understood.
  • Operating policies that go beyond basic legislative requirements on gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion and belief.
